God has a purpose!

The last couple of years have been a physical struggle. Battling multiple chronic conditions has been a strain. I am currently reading 100 Days to Brave by Annie F. Downs as my devotional. Today’s reading spoke directly to my heart.

She writes, “God has a purpose for your body–with all its imperfections and illnesses.” I know from reading Scripture that there will come a day when I will be healthy and whole, and I will see Jesus. But what about now?

1 Corinthians 6:19 tells me that my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. That doesn’t mean it has to be perfect. (Have you looked around your church building lately?) My body, along with my heart and mind, must be available for Him to occupy and use.

My AHA moment this morning was that it’s time to stop focusing on what my body can’t do and focus on what He wants to do with my ailing body. It’s time to be brave. As Annie Downs writes, “Brave people look at the bodies they are in and CHOOSE (emphasis mine) to see them for what they are–vessels that hold a mighty God.”

Are you struggling with illness, fatigue, or pain? Will you be brave with me and recognize that God wants to use you as you are and stop waiting until you get “better”? I would love to hear from you and add you to my prayer list that we can be brave together.

With a heart for the Lord and for home,

Sharing is caring!
