Sometimes having a heart for home means sharing it outside your own four walls.
This week was our church’s Christmas Tea and I was given the privilege of being a table hostess. That meant, decorating a table including centerpieces, place settings, tea pots, and a small gift for each lady. It was great fun planning which dishes to use and how to put together a centerpiece without spending a lot of money. All that was provided was the white table cloth.
As I mixed and matched, I was reminded of dear family members. Plaid has always been a big deal for us due to our Scottish heritage (my dad) and the Old Country Roses dishes and gold flatware were shared with me by my aunt who has always been a gracious hostess.
I filled a crystal bowl that had been a sales contest prize with a mix of matte and shiny red Christmas balls and a white pillar candle, then set the bowl inside a wreath. I surrounded it with small poinsettias in red Christmas ball pots that I had used at another event earlier in the day.
The best part of the evening was sharing it with women that I met that evening and being a part of their Christmas Joy (our theme)! Sharing with them a gift from the heart in a jar of homemade jam and serving them throughout the evening.
I’m so glad that I can share my home outside the four walls of my house.
Counting my blessings and loving that God gifted me with a Heart 4 Home!
